Tamaulipas, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Tamaulipas, is a state in Mexico; one of the 31 states that, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 federal entities of Mexico. It is divided into 43 municipalities.
It is bounded by the United States (Texas) to the north, the Gulf of Mexico to the east, the states of Veracruz to the south, San Luis Potosà to the southwest and west, and Nuevo León to the west. Ciudad Victoria is the state capital.
Tamaulipas has 18 international crossings, 9 commercial, of which 7 are vehicular, and it is the only state with 2 railroad crossings.
It is important to note that the commercial flow between Mexico and the United States through Tamaulipas places us in 1st place nationally by road and rail.
In road traffic, customs in our state represent 42% of the national total, while by rail our commercial flow represents 54% of the national total.
