Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo revealed on Wednesday, January 15th, that she will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration as the next president of the United States.
At a press conference at the National Palace, the head of state indicated that the Mexican ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma, will represent her at the event that will take place on January 20.
“No, but it’s okay, the Mexican ambassador to the United States will be there. No problem,” Sheinbaum said.
Trump did not invite Claudia Sheinbaum to the inauguration, and she says that “it doesn’t matter, nothing is happening”
It should be noted that Claudia Sheinbaum’s “non-invitation” comes amidst Donald Trump’s repeated threats to Mexico on issues such as the increase in tariffs as well as the mass deportation of fellow migrants.
Trump did invite several heads of state, including the President of Argentina, Javier Milei; Nayib Bukele of El Salvador; Daniel Noboa of Ecuador; and Xi Jinping of China.
