Mariah Markus ā€˜Nā€™, the woman who attacked pedestrians in La Condesa, has been arrested

On social media, images and videos of a woman already identified as Mariah Markus, who is of American origin, attacking residents of the Condesa neighborhood with stones and knives just for passing through the area, have gone viral.

The woman from the state of Colorado, in the United States, is homeless and has been seen around Parque EspaƱa throwing bricks, and stones at people, and threatening them with a sharp weapon as they pass by.

Users point out that the woman suffers from some mental illness that makes her act this way against those who live in the Condesa neighborhood, which belongs to the CuauhtƩmoc district of Mexico City.

The woman has been reported several times by residents who were warning about the danger this woman

To protect the capitalā€™s residents, announcements have been pasted on posts and at various points in the area warning about the womanā€™s presence in the streets.

The announcement, which can be read in both English and Spanish, issues the warning. It is also accompanied by a photo of the alleged aggressor, who has not received help from the authorities.

ā€œDangerous individual in Condesa, more specifically on Tamaulipas Street and Parque EspaƱa. He shouts and threatens people, follows them, spits on them, throws rocks at car windows, carries a knife, and has threatened people with it before,ā€ reads the warning.

After the case went viral, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, the mayor of CuauhtĆ©moc, announced the arrest of a woman identified as Markus ā€˜Nā€™, accused of attacking residents of the Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City.

Through social media X, the mayor said that the arrest of the 33-year-old woman was achieved thanks to complaints from local residents:

ā€œThanks to citizen complaints, the police in the area managed to arrest a person who was carrying a weapon and endangering the lives of those who live in CuauhtĆ©moc,ā€

On social media, the woman, who is of American origin, was shown intimidating pedestrians in the Condesa neighborhood.

The recent complaints have served to make Internet users and especially residents of the Condesa neighborhood reiterate the call for help:

ā€œThere is a foreign woman in the @RoomaCondesa neighborhood who is out of her mind and is armed, she has hurt adults, children, and dogs. She needs help, itā€™s been 3 times that the police have taken her away and let her go,ā€ reads the complaint published 5 months ago.
