Nuevo Leon could have a plebiscite in 2026 so that Nuevo Leon residents can decide if they want the state to become an independent country.
The State Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Nuevo Leon (IEEPCNL) ruled in favor of Gilberto Lozano’s request for a plebiscite and determined that it would be carried out if the State’s Superior Court of Justice considered it viable.
If the Court considers it viable, the necessary signatures (almost 100 thousand) must be collected for the plebiscite with the question “Would you agree that the state of Nuevo Leon be an independent, free, and sovereign country?
Many people from Monterrey and Nuevo Leon in general have been stupefied by this news, many agree, and others do not. But what is a fact is that this is a historic event.
