In three months, more than 600 deaths have been reported due to the war between ‘Los Chapitos’ and ‘Los Mayitos’ in Sinaloa

Between September 9, the date the clashes began, and December 9, 609 violent homicides have been recorded, including 19 women.

The clashes between the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada have left a trail of more than 600 dead and around 200 people who remain missing, in just three months.

At least 200 deaths were recorded during the last month, including some people located in clandestine graves, in the municipalities of the state of Sinaloa where “Los Chapitos” and “Los Mayitos” maintain the clashes.

Since this same date, federal forces have reported the arrest of 46 people in various clashes; 19 in the first month, 27 in the second, and none during the latter.

This third month was characterized by direct attacks on active or retired police officers from state or municipal corporations in Culiacán and Mazatlán, where nine of them lost their lives.

Among the victims are two former secretaries of the Public Security and Municipal Transit Secretariat of Mazatlán, Juan Ramón Alfaro Gaxiola and Simón Malpica Hernández, and the former Deputy Director of Operations of the Culiacán Police, Benjamín Villareal Guerrero, who was still active within the corporation.

Seven women were killed during the month of November.

Of the 19 women killed, seven were during the last month, one of them was shot inside a house south of Culiacán, which was then set on fire by armed men, leaving her trapped inside, and another died in a cafeteria, during the attack on a police chief.

In addition to the homicides, the Attorney General’s Office of Sinaloa has registered 406 people deprived of liberty, of which; 170 have been located alive, 50 dead, and 186 who remain missing, until its last report, on November 30.

As a result of the security strategies, the authorities presume the impact of 281 investigation files, counting from September 9, highlighting the arrest of 184 people.

The Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office also reports the seizure of 757 long weapons, 138 hand weapons, 4,375 magazines, 246,977 cartridges, 1,854 shells, and 109 stands, in addition to 13 buildings, 364 vehicles, and 61 armored vehicles.
