If you are planning a trip to the Guadalajara- Chapala- Ajijic area or if you are thinking about moving down to Mexico, you need to check out this Facebook group: “Gringos Ajijic & Lakeside”

It is an informational group for those interested in the greater Lake Chapala area of Jalisco, Mexico.

The group is intended to provide a space for local people to network, and share their experiences and knowledge in English.

Ideally, “Gringos Ajijic & Lakeside”, is meant to forge and strengthen our local community.

If you want to request access to join this great online community, please ensure that your profile has been completely filled out, and you will have to ANSWER THREE MEMBERSHIP QUESTIONS. Those with incomplete profiles or those who appear to be “bots” will be declined to join.

“Gringos Ajijic” provides a space for local expats to share thoughts/ideas/experiences/needs / etc.

As you know, Ajijic, Mexico is a popular destination for expats, and is part of the largest concentration of American and Canadian residents in Mexico: 

  • Population The total population of the Chapala municipality, which includes Ajijic, is about 50,000, with an estimated 15–20,000 expats living there full-time. In the winter, the number of expats swells to more than 30,000. 

Nationality

The expat community in Ajijic includes Americans, Canadians, and residents from Europe and South America. 

Language

Many people in Ajijic speak English to some degree, so it’s possible to get along even if you’re still learning Spanish. 

Culture

Ajijic offers opportunities to immerse yourself in Mexican culture and interact with people from other cultures.

Ajijic is located on the shores of Lake Chapala, Mexico’s largest lake. The area is known for its: Lakeside scenery, Climate, Cultural and sporting activities, Affordable cost of living, and Excellent healthcare facilities.
