Culiacán, Sinaloa.- There are 19 armed civilians killed by the Mexican Army in the confrontation where Edwin Antonio Rubio López, alias “El Max” or “El Oso”, was arrested.

The capture was carried out by the Sedena at 08:25 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the vicinity of a country house in the town of Plan de Oriente, also known as “El Doce”, heading to Sanalona.

It is confirmed that 19 men were killed at the scene, all of whom are alleged criminals. Last night after the confrontation, personnel from the Attorney General’s Office of the Sinaloa delegation and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) went to the site to attest to the facts. They are continuing with the expert reports on Tuesday morning to proceed with the removal of the bodies.

The arrest record of this character, identified as one of the priority targets of military intelligence for his active participation in organized crime and drug trafficking to the United States, already appears in the National Registry of Arrests.

The alias given to him by the federal government is “El Oso”, although in Sinaloa and in the world of organized crime he is better known as “El Max”.

Edwin Antonio Rubio López is already at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and his status is: in transfer. He is being taken to Mexico City.

“El Max” fell in a shootout between armed groups and agents of the federal forces, where the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) had support from an armed helicopter.

The confrontation was reported from 5 pm on dirt roads, ranches, and farms in the vicinity of the community of Plan de Oriente, also known as “El Doce” and Carrizalejo, heading to Sanalona.
