7 municipalities of Chiapas were affected by the heavy rains of the weekend
The level of the Amarillo River, which runs through the northern part of San Cristóbal, is currently at 95% of its capacity. However, if the rains continue today, it could overflow, which would affect several colonies and neighborhoods in the northern and western parts of the city. For its part, the Fogótico River, which runs through the southern part of the city, is maintaining its level, and firefighters have been monitoring the situation since early Sunday morning.
Tropical storm Nadine has caused heavy rains in San Cristóbal de las Casas. According to the report of the firefighters, so far there are no people evacuated; some families have been removed from their homes and transferred with relatives. However, there is a possibility that the river may overflow its banks, and flooding has been reported on several streets, so the population is asked to be attentive to the calls of this department since the bad weather still persists in the region.

Some people have been transferred to relatives’ homes, but so far the shelters, which could be the El Carmen Convention Center and the Sutram Auditorium, have not been used. A call is made to the public to be alert for any emergency.
