Narcomantas from La Chapiza appear with a message for Claudia Sheinbaum in Culiacán: “Keep sending cannon fodder”
Alleged members of Los Chapitos pointed to the faction of ‘Mayito Flaco’ as “the cause of all the violence”
During the morning of October 3, residents of the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, reported the presence of various narco-banners, allegedly signed by La Chapiza, which were addressed to the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
According to preliminary reports, these messages were placed in at least three different points of the capital of Sinaloa: the bridge of the Álvaro Obregón and México 68 avenues, the bridge at Álvaro Obregón and Malecón Nuevo, and the Puente Negro.
In the text, supposedly attributed to La Chapiza or Los Chapitos, of the Sinaloa Cartel, the authors accuse the opposing criminal group, which is under the command of Ismael Zambada Sicairos, alias ‘Mayito Flaco’, son of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, of causing the violence in the state.
Both factions maintain a confrontation that, since September 9, has caused an increase in intentional homicides, vehicle thefts, and disappearances in Culiacán and surrounding municipalities.
In the first 21 days of this struggle —that is, from September 9 to 30— the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) recorded at least 121 intentional homicides in Sinaloa.
The banners addressed to Sheinbaum Pardo on the third day of her government as president, alleged members of La Chapiza indicated that possible members of Los Cabrera, a group under the command of the Zambada family that was founded by brothers Felipe, Luis Alberto, José Luis, and Alejandro Cabrera Sarabia, would be participating in this dispute.
“Keep sending cannon fodder,” can be read in the message attributed to Los Chapitos as a threat to the rival cell.
José Luis, alias ‘JL’ or ‘El 03’, and Alejandro Cabrera Sarabia, alias ‘El 02’, were mentioned in the narco-banners as alleged leaders of the Los Cabrera faction, whose main areas of operation include the states of Durango and Zacatecas.
It is presumed that the criminal clan began its operations as a cell of the Sinaloa Cartel approximately in 2011, although the Cabrera brothers knew ‘El Mayo’ and his sons for years.
It is worth mentioning that in recent days it was confirmed that two of the people found dead inside a van with the legend “Welcome to Culiacán” were originally from the state of Durango.
In addition to this, it is presumed that Los Cabrera would have allied with a defector from La Línea, from the Juárez Cartel, to strengthen the dispute that the Sinaloa Cartel maintains in the Ojinaga triangle, in the state of Chihuahua.
The banners addressed to the federal president were removed by local authorities and made available to the corresponding ministerial personnel. At the time of this publication, no people have been reported arrested for these events.
