China Southern Airlines inaugurates a route that connects Shenzhen with Mexico City; It is the longest direct international route in the history of Chinese civil aviation.

The airline China Southern Airlines inaugurated this Saturday, May 11th, a route that connects the southeastern Chinese city of Shenzhen with Mexico City and has become the longest direct international route in the history of Chinese civil aviation.

The route covers a route of more than 14 thousand kilometers and will be operated twice a week by an Airbus 350 aircraft, the official Xinhua agency reported in the last few hours.

The total duration of the flight is about 16 hours, thus considerably shortening the flight time between China and Mexico, the Asian country’s second trading partner in Latin America.

The air connection between Mexico City and Shenzhen, located in what is known as the “factory of the world,” “will serve the development of economic and commercial demand in China and Latin America and personal exchanges,” explains the state media office.

The route covers more than 12,878 kilometers between Canton and New York and is among the longest in the world.

The return trip to China will make a small stopover of about 30 minutes in Tijuana.

According to state media, China was, before the pandemic, the Asian country that sent the most tourists to Mexico, with a figure of more than 100,000 and a per capita spending of about two thousand dollars on average.
