Cabins, waterfalls, hiking, and much more are in the Aconco ecotourism center.

This ecotourism center is surrounded by imposing canyons and a pine and oak forest.

Three hours from the capital of Puebla, an ecotourism center is located where you can escape the noise of the city and fully connect with nature.

The Aconco Waterfalls are a magical place where you can do various activities such as horseback riding, zip-lining, rappelling on the side of one of the waterfalls, and even swimming in them.

Aconco means “pots of water” and is located in Xaltatempa de Lucas, just 30 minutes from the center of Tetela de Ocampo.

The incredible thing about this site is that the waterfalls have a height of 35 and 95 meters high, making them its main attraction.

In addition, the fall of both waterfalls forms two pools of crystal-clear water up to one and a half meters deep where you can swim.

Another activity that you should not miss when visiting this ecotourism center is that you can rappel down a 75-meter descent right next to one of the waterfalls and jump off a 160-meter-long zip line.

However, if you only think about relaxing, you can go hiking visit a canyon, and even ride a horse.

But that’s not all, since if you want to enjoy more days in full contact with nature, you should know that this place has totally ecological rustic-style cabins.

The cabins for 5 and 12 people also have a restaurant where you can find Mexican snacks and the local specialty, Aconco trout.

How much does it cost?

The cost of access to the waterfalls is $60 pesos. However, the aforementioned activities also have a cost:

Rappel with a test: $250 pesos

Horseback riding: $150 pesos

Hiking through the canyon: $25 pesos

The costs of the cabins depend on the number of people:

Cabin for two people: $1000

Cabin for four people: $1,750

Cabin for six people: $2000

Cabin for ten people: $3,500

Recommendations:

To begin with, you should know that this hidden forest does not have internet or signal in the area, which will allow you to completely disconnect from the stress and noise of the city.

As we mentioned before, you can immerse yourself in its water pools, so we recommend that you bring a swimsuit and comfortable clothing to enjoy the other activities.

Being a nature reserve, do not forget to collect your garbage and throw it in the containers designated for each type of waste. In this place, the entry of pets or domestic animals is not authorized because they alter the behavior of the native fauna that lives in the area.

How to get there?

By bus: You must take the ATAH buses that leave CAPU towards Chignahuapan, and from there take a van that will take you to Tetela de Ocampo.

Once in Tetela de Ocampo, right next to the terminal, there is a taxi station that can take you to the Cascadas y Cabañas Aconco ecotourism center, which is approximately 20 minutes away.

By own vehicle: To get there from Puebla, take the Mexico-Puebla highway to the junction with Highway 119, passing through Tlaxcala, Apizaco, Tlaxco, and a few kilometers before reaching Chignahuapan, take Highway 148 to Tetela de Ocampo.
