Legislators from the Congress of Mexico City approved an opinion to prohibit the sale of live animals on public roads and markets in CDMX.
The above is not only limited to the sale of copies in supply points of sale, that is, it will also be illegal in on-wheels, flea markets, bazaars, complementary stores and others installed on public roads.

These are several reforms to the Animal Protection and Welfare Law of Mexico City, which seek to ensure the right to life of animals.
Therefore, citizens have the obligation to respect them and not use them as a form of entertainment or fun.
Likewise, the modifications to said legislation propose that mayors allocate a percentage of their annual budget to implement permanent sterilization, vaccination and deworming campaigns for street animals.
Likewise, Administrative Units for Animal Protection and Welfare must be created in the districts.
The mayors will also monitor, in coordination with the Secretariat of Economic Development of Mexico City, compliance with this Law in the various places where sales will be prohibited.
In addition to prohibiting the sale of live animals on public roads and in markets, the changes to the Animal Protection and Welfare Law of Mexico City also contemplate modifications regarding the use of animals in rituals.
It will be prohibited to carry out acts of mistreatment or cruelty or cause injury or suffering to animals used in the celebration of traditional rites and uses; and that to kill animals for religious beliefs the provisions of official Mexican regulations will be followed.
Fine for sale of live animals on public roads and markets in CDMX
As stipulated in the opinion approved this Thursday, they will be sanctioned in the opinion of the competent authorities with a fine of 21 to 30 times the current Unit of Account of Mexico City.
There is not only a financial penalty, since there could also be incommutable arrest of 24 to 36 hours, depending on the seriousness of the offense, the intention with which it was committed and the consequences to which it has given rise.
