The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) will cancel the toll collection of the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway during its first year of operations.
This was reported by the federal deputy of Morena, Azael Santiago Chepi, after a meeting with the director of the agency, José Luis Chida Pardo.
Through a statement, the legislator announced that the road, which is expected to be completed in November, will not generate costs for the vehicles that travel along it after its start-up.
Once the work is completed, the highway will have a one-year grace period so that not a single peso will be paid to anyone who uses it.
Likewise, he added that the residents of the municipalities through which the highway passes will be exempt from paying toll booths, when the charges begin.
Advances in Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido
During the press conference on October 4, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that it will be November 29 when the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway will be inaugurated.
The Chief Executive indicated that at the moment the only thing that remains to be completed on the road is a bridge. He also highlighted that the highway will reduce the travel time from six to two and a half hours, from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido.
Meanwhile, he added that when considering new poles of tourist development, this road could be expanded with a branch to Juquila.
