Chiapas: FGR agent shot to death

The officer’s body appeared inside his vehicle on the Ocozocoautla-Arriaga highway.

This Monday, the ministerial agent of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in Chiapas, Uriel Berzain Morales, was found dead inside his vehicle; The body had bullet holes.

The event occurred on the Ocozocoautla-Arriaga highway, at kilometer 70, near the municipality of Citanlapa Chiapa, when drivers reported finding a red Mustang, in which an apparently injured person was found.

Police and emergency services attended the scene and verified that the person’s body no longer showed vital signs.

The body was transferred to the SEMEFO in Tuxtla Gutiérrez to carry out legal procedures and begin investigations since it had gunshot wounds.

The agent nicknamed “El Yanki” had been appointed two months ago to the municipality of Villaflores, and had previously worked within the FGR as well, but in the municipality of San Cristóbal de las Casas.

So far, no authority has taken a position regarding this and other violent events in the entity.

In recent days, in Villaflores, the arrest of an alleged leader of organized crime, and various confrontations, took place.

On Monday night, clashes between security elements and criminals were reported in the municipal seat of Villaflores, where neighbors reported shootings in different parts of the place.

In recent weeks, Chiapas has become a territory of dispute between organized crime groups that maintain, mainly in the border area, several communities with at least 280,000 inhabitants blocked and incommunicado under the actions of organized crime.
