MAZATLAN. – Mexico has sun and beach destinations that are popular, especially when they are vacation periods and Mazatlán is one of them, which continues, at a steady pace, among the favorite destinations for national tourism.

Carlos Berdegué Sacristán, vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, mentioned that the “Pearl of the Pacific” has remained in preference, having achieved a good summer and with good expectations for the season of congresses and conventions.

“The national market is good, there are very good expectations from the segment of groups and conventions. We have achieved, as with the Ministry of Tourism and the committees of the associations, a significant number of events in the months of September and October ”, he commented.

Mazatlán, a different tourism throughout the year

Although, in other beach destinations, international tourism predominates, in Mazatlán, tourism has managed to diversify, said Berdegué Sacristán, to the extent that, throughout the year, the well-known “low season” no longer exists, distributing activities that allow the tourist flow of different segments.

“Throughout the year we have achieved different tourism sectors. In summer it is more familiar, quieter, more children; now in September and October, there are more groups, events, congresses and conventions; At the end of the year and at the beginning, foreign tourism, that’s Mazatlán, in general terms,” he said.

He acknowledged that the current summer season started slowly in July, however, it is August it has gained the most strength, maintaining positive expectations at the end of the holidays, once classes begin for the new school year.

At the national level, according to data from DataTur, there are at least 77 million rooms available in all tourist destinations, of which, until its last report in June, more than 46 million had been occupied, with an occupation from January to June of 2023, of 60 percent, approximately 6 percent more than in 2022, in the same period, which achieved around 54 percent.

The next report that DataTur should issue would be in September, when the third quarter of this year ends.
