On Thursday, January 26th, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, asserted that if the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) wants to fight corruption, it must start with the Judiciary system itself.
“Yesterday they told me that the president of the Supreme Court was talking about the need to reactivate the entire Anti-Corruption System, well, they better start with the Judiciary, there is a lot of work to do, with all due respect to the Council of the Judiciary,” Lopez Obrador said.
Obrador insisted that he does not trust the judges of the Court since they have failed to sanction irregularities in the Judiciary.
“Make a study of 10 years here, don’t go so far back, 20, how many judges, magistrates and Ministers have the Council of the Judiciary sanctioned? Ask for that report and you will see that the Judiciary is like a “castle of purity”, AMLO concluded.
For most Mexicans, AMLO’s statements regarding corruption are totally out of context and without fundament.
