Foreign Minister Ebrard on tour across Northern Africa and the Middle East

Marcelo Ebrard, Foreign Minister of Mexico, is on a tour in the Middle East and Asia, this Saturday, November 12th, he started by participating in the conference against global climate change (COP27); then he will attend the Leaders Summit of the Group of 20 (G20); and finally, he will be present at the inauguration game of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) announced on Friday that the foreign minister will represent the government at the 27th United Nations Conference on Climate Change in 2022 (COP 27), which is being held from November 6 to 18 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

In a statement, it was reported that the Mexican foreign minister will attend on behalf of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and will present the Mexican vision for the transition to clean energy, as well as the commitments assumed by the country.

Later, Ebrard will go to Bali, Indonesia, to represent the country at the G20 Leaders’ Summit on November 14, 15, and 16.

“The negotiation process of the Declaration to be adopted at this year’s Summit will take place in an unprecedented context due to the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact on food and energy security. “, noted the SRE.

Finally, the secretary will attend the opening match of the Qatar 2022 Soccer World Cup, at the express invitation of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emir of Qatar.

In addition, he will attend the inauguration of the Mexico Qatar 2022 Center, an office located in the Katara Cultural Village to provide consular protection and assistance, information, and public diplomacy, as a temporary extension of the Embassy of Mexico in Qatar.
