AMLO says Mexico will present a peace proposal to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine war

On Monday, September 12th, the Mexican President said that his government will present a proposal to the United Nations aimed at resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced this Monday (09.05.2022) that Mexico will formally submit to the United Nations its proposal to pacify the world for at least five years, within the framework of the war between Ukraine and Russia.

“The proposal is being worked on, it will be presented when it is up to Mexico to intervene later in September at the UN. The secretary of (foreign) relations Marcelo Ebrard is going to present it formally,” said the president during his press conference daily.

López Obrador said that he already had contact with the Mexican ambassador to the UN, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, who has received the indication to start working on the proposal that the country will make to the United Nations Organization.

“This is what we propose with the war in Ukraine, peace should be sought, because the work to avoid that war was not done, neither by the leaders of the powers nor by the UN (…). Five years for the governments to take care of meeting the needs of the people”, AMLO concluded.
