VALLADOLID, Yucatán.- Desperation, fear, and anguish, passengers of a bus on the ADO line escaped when a fire started in the structure after a tire of the passenger unit burst.
The rescue forces were immediately notified about the incident that had originated in the bus, which was circulating with all its seats occupied.
Workers from the flagship project of the Federal Government, the Mayan Train, immediately provided the necessary support to rescue the passengers and put out the enormous flames that consumed the bus while they await the arrival of the rescue forces.
The incident occurred at kilometer 217 of the Mérida-Cancún federal toll road, when a first-class bus on the ADO line, with economic number 135, suffered damage to one of its tires.
According to the data obtained in this regard, the unit was driven by a 57-year-old ETX, who, while traveling from Oriente to Poniente, that is, Cancún-Mérida, just upon reaching kilometer 220, had a rear tire burst.
When advancing a few kilometers without a tire, the friction with the pavement caused a flame, which started the fire in the rear of the unit.
When the operator noticed the flames, he managed to stop the unit and park on the side of the road.
All the passengers, fortunately, were able to get off and unload their belongings immediately from the unit, since the bus ended up incinerated after being consumed by the enormous flames.
Due to this, workers from the ICA company that work on the construction of the Mayan Train immediately supported with water pipes to control the fire, and the SSP firefighters arrived at the site to only finish putting out the fire that had already reduced. in a pile of iron the structure of the bus.
After the corresponding authorities, especially elements of the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) and the National Guard (GN) became aware of the incident, they stated that it was a total loss, however, miraculously, no one was injured.
