The Government of Spain finally accepts the appointment of Quirino Ordaz Coppel as Ambassador of Mexico

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs confirms the approval granted by the Spanish Government to receive the former Governor of Sinaloa

Mexico.- Confirmed, the doubts were cleared up and YES, the former governor of Sinaloa Quirino Ordaz Coppe l “already has one foot in Spain”  as Ambassador of Mexico, after weeks of doubts, criticism and the approval that did not come. 

And it is that Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation gave approval to Quirino Ordaz Coppel, through an official document dated Thursday, January 27. 

“I share with you, on the instructions of President López Obrador, the approval granted to Quirino Ordaz as Ambassador of our country to the Kingdom of Spain; I proceed to turn it over to the Ministry of the Interior for the purposes of the law,” Ebrard said in a Twitter message. 


The document in which the shield of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation is observed, issued on January 27 and stamped by the Embassy of Mexico as received on January 28, says: 

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation sincerely greets the Embassy of Mexico and is honored to inform you that the Government of Spain has granted its approval in favor of Hon. Mr. Quirino Ordaz Coppel, as the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Mexican States to the Kingdom of Spain”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation took the opportunity to express to the Mexican Embassy the testimony of its high consideration. 

However, the Senate of the Republic needs to ratify the appointment and once made, Quirino Ordaz Coppel would be in Spain fulfilling his role as Ambassador of Mexico.
