The Riviera Maya maintains an average hotel occupancy of 66% and is expected to end January with increases mainly on weekends in around 47 thousand rooms that exist in the destination.6

The foregoing, according to the latest update of the figures released by the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), which indicates that the first days of the month recorded the highest figures that exceeded 80%.

The figures indicate that on the weekend of January 21 to 23, there were acceptable numbers in the hotel occupancy of the Riviera Maya destination, precisely before the start of the orange epidemiological traffic light that further restricts the influx in establishments such as lodging centers.

In this sense, last Saturday there was an occupation of 63.9%, and on Sunday of 62.8%; These results are complemented by the records of last Monday and Tuesday, when 62.1% and 60.8% were reached, respectively.

Also, so far in the month of January and just five days before the end, the lowest occupancy was registered on the 19th with 59.2% ; However, this figure is still high compared to what was recorded last year when it barely reached 40% in the economic recovery due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the last day of last year, the destination reached 80.5% and ended December with a general average occupancy of 75%. During the end of the year festivities, it was on December 30 that the highest occupancy was reached with 82%.

In a tour carried out this Monday, January 24th, through the beaches of downtown Playa del Carmen, a favorable influx of tourists could be noted, who enjoyed the beaches and the natural beauty of the Mexican Caribbean.
