The Oaxaca Health Services (SSO) reported that they are implementing health surveillance actions after the arrival of three cruise ships to Bahías de Huatulco in recent days.

The institution highlighted that the first cruise ship that arrived on the coasts of Oaxaca was The World, from Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, with 85 passengers and 269 crew members; the second MV Seabourn Ovation from Miami, Florida, with 426 passengers and 420 crew members, and the most recent, the Zuiderdam that sailed from San Diego, California, with 893 passengers and 735 crew members. 

The Chief of the SSO Epidemiology Unit, Yuko Nakamura López, said that this international epidemiological surveillance was carried out in coordination with the Costa Sanitary Jurisdiction number four, in accordance with the International Health Regulations.

Nakamura López stressed that the procedure to follow, in the event that people traveling on cruise ships show symptoms of Covid-19 or a positive test for this disease, is to provide them with the required medical care, while asymptomatic people or people with symptoms Mild will be kept in preventive quarantine, likewise, those that manifest serious symptoms will be treated in hospitals.
