It’s not a joke, cruise ship with 81 covid infected passengers wanted to disembark in Mazatlan, Sinaloa health authorities deny the request

In Sinaloa, there are 244 active Covid-19 patients

MAZATLÁN.- The Secretary of Health, Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda, announced through his social networks that all cruise ships that intend to dock in Topolobampo or Mazatlán in the coming days are suspended.

The cruise that would arrive in Mazatlán was the Carnival Panorama, with around 4 thousand passengers, of which 81 have Covid-19, and another would also arrive at Topolobampo with a total of 1,219 passengers.

As for the new omicron variant, he said that in Sinaloa there is a confirmed case and 4 suspects. He said that the measures they apply are the same, and in the coming day’s measures will be released on international flights such as random tests.

He said that although Sinaloa only has 244 active patients, there are other states such as Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur that already have an increase in infections, so the same thing will eventually happen.

Interviewed at the Línea Directa analysis table , the Secretary of Health stressed that even when Sinaloa has been declining in COVID-19 infections , we must not lower our guard but maintain sanitary measures, especially due to the arrival of Ómicron which has higher transmissibility.

The official reported that also from January another reinforcement will be given to Health personnel and in the coming days the date of a second dose will be announced to teachers, which may be with AstraZeneca from the batch of 43 thousand doses or from Cansino that is also available. has; Furthermore, there is no agreement for the return of face-to-face classes because other entities are postponing it.

He said that currently there is no commercialization of vaccines in Mexico and it has been vaccinated in stages because there is not enough availability of vaccines, because in other countries vaccination for young people was from 12 to 17 years old and here it has already started from 15 to 1 year and from January 3 will apply from 14 to 17, which is about 52 thousand in Sinaloa.

He regretted that in Mexico there are 44 million Mexicans who do not have any dose and in Sinaloa there are 917 thousand people in this situation, for which he called for vaccination.

However, in terms of coverage at the national level, this is 57 percent and in Sinaloa it is 60 percent, which is why vaccination has been efficient.

He assured that 95,650 vaccines have just been received, including 43,000 from AstraZeneca and the rest of Pfizer, so they continue to arrive and there are enough vaccines for the vaccination of young people, also for total coverage of those over 60 years of age and Pfizer for young people from 15 to 17 years old.

Cuén Ojeda said that there is a confirmed case of omicron and four others that need to be certified but that already came out positive in the first tests carried out for this reason in the face of this new variant that may be less virulent, prevention measures must be reinforced, even in meetings relatives.

He added that we should be concerned about the arrival of omicrons because those who do not learn in someone else’s head will do so in their own because we must see what is happening in other countries such as the United States, which has more than 200 thousand infections a day.
