How many players of Mexican origin have shone on the NFL?

Some of the NFL stars have a Mexican background, do you know them?

Thomas Jesse Fears is another NFL star born in Guadalajara, Mexico, with a successful career in the NFL. He was an American football split end playing for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL for nine seasons. Throughout his career, he managed to get his hands on the championship trophy three times and was picked to be the first-team All-Pro back in 1950.

After he retired from American Football as a player, he started his journey as an NFL assistant coach and later head coach of the New Orleans Saints. His beginnings date back to the UCLA Bruins football team and he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

After a few retired NFL legends, it is time to reflect on who we have now, and the future of professional players with Mexican heritage. Isaac Alarcon is a Mexican gridiron football offensive tackle that joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 as his first team in the big league.

He started playing college football at the Monterrey Institute of technology and he is one of the young talents who have the chance to climb to the all-time greats.

Even at a young age, Isaac achieved great things such as leading the Mexican national team to the bronze medal at the Under-19 World Championship and getting the CONADEIP All-Stars in 2019.

He is just starting in the National Football League and due to his incredible talent, we expect a lot of things from him in the future.

Tom Flores

Here we have another Mexican-American legend that stormed the NFL. He started his career as a quarterback playing for the Bakersfield Spoilers, after moving to Oakland Raiders, the Buffalo Bills, and last but not least, Kansas City Chiefs.

He had a rather successful career as a player, becoming the first Mexican starting quarterback that managed to win a Super Bowl.

After he retired from playing football, his love for the sport didn’t go away as he pursued a career as a coach in the NFL. He started as a quarterback coach for the Buffalo Bills after moving to Oakland Raiders as a wide receiver coach.

Tom Flores proved that he was not just a talented player, but also a very good coach. He managed to win three Super Bowl championships one as an assistant coach, and two as head coach.
