At least 17 people were injured during the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women march in Mexico City.
This was reported by Marcela Figueroa, Undersecretary of Institutional Development of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the capital.
The figure corresponds to 11 female police officers, a City Hall employee, and five civilians, including one reporter. All of them were treated by the Emergency Medical Rescue Squad (ERUM).

Equipped with hammers, smoke bombs, sticks, paint cans, and homemade firecrackers, and explosive devices, groups of hooded women carried out acts of vandalism during the march and attacked the female police officers who were unarmed, sending a dozen of them to the hospital.
The attacks were reported on Ignacio Ramírez Street, Paseo de la Reforma, Hidalgo Avenue, Juárez Avenue, 5 de Mayo Street and the Plaza de la Constitución.

Despite these events, the demonstration on November 25 was mostly held in a peaceful manner, with the participation of 1,500 women, the Government of Mexico City indicated.
Around 15:30, the first groups started to march from the Monument to the Revolution towards the Angel of Independence.
Groups from the Women’s Glorieta, Plaza de la República, and Paseo de la Reforma were added to this march, where monuments and shops were fenced and armored.
During the demonstration, various objects such as sticks, pipes, hammers, and screwdrivers were secured by the police.
