Rodrigo Saldívar had already excelled in mathematics competitions at the state and federal levels in Mexico.
Zacatecas student Rodrigo Saldívar Mauricio, 11, managed to win the gold medal at the International Mathematics Competition that took place in Indonesia.
The young sixth-grade student at Beatriz González Ortega Elementary School, in the municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas, had excelled in mathematics competitions at the state and national levels for some years now, motivated by his teachers.
His prowess in mathematics caught the attention of the National Association of Teachers of Mathematics who selected him to compete internationally after he obtained a perfect exam at the National Mathematical Olympiad.
Rodrigo participated in group B in the International Mathematics Competition, which began on July 27 and ended on Sunday, August 1st, to obtain the gold medal.
