The Tamul waterfall, located north of the municipality of Aquismón, in San Luis Potosí, is considered the “jewel of the Potosí waterfalls” with its 105 meters high.
This impressive waterfall, in times of rain, reaches a water curtain up to 300 meters wide, which, together with its beautiful turquoise blue colors, makes it by far the jewel of the waterfalls in the region of the Huasteca Potosina.
The water curtain of the Tamul waterfall is located between the vertical walls of a canyon and is fed by the Gallinas River; when it falls, it joins the Santa María river.The best time to visit the Tamul waterfall
The best time of year to visit the Tamul waterfall is from October to May; if you go in April, it is most likely dry.
Its name means “place of pitchers”, but it is recommended to go within these dates, when the waters are not murky, to be able to appreciate its characteristic turquoise colors.

In this natural wonder of San Luis Potosí, you can practice rappelling: you must get to the El Naranjito ejido. There is a viewpoint on the banks of the Gallitos river that feeds the Tamul waterfall and this activity begins right there, from where you descend to one side of the water curtain!
In addition to rappelling, other activities such as rafting and kayaking are also practiced.The mere sight of the beautiful landscape will leave more than one breathless since just contemplating the waterfall in itself is an incredible experience.
This spectacular wonder of nature in San Luis Potosí can be accessed in different ways, for example, from the town of Tanchachín, from the Ejido La Morena or through El Sauz, at the top of the waterfall.
