The event, held in the Caleta Tankah complex, did not respect sanitary measures.
As a result of a citizen complaint, a clandestine party was closed within the Caleta Tankah tourist complex, in which there were more than 150 tourists.
Alfonso Bastos Flores, head of the Federal Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) in Tulum, stated that through the anonymous report inspectors under his charge came to this place located 6 kilometers from the municipal seat, heading to Playa del Carmen, and when verifying that it was a massive event out of every rule, they proceeded to place closing seals.
He stressed that in the place, in addition to selling alcohol outside the established hours, the healthy distance and the limit of capacity allowed as marked by the Epidemiological Risk Traffic Light, currently in orange color, was not respected.
Bastos Flores commented that in the clandestine event that took place in the beach area there were national and foreign tourists without the proper sanitary measures.
He explained that the armed forces of the Quintana Roo Police and the National Guard were also supportive, who accompanied the diligence.
He explained that citizens must continue to make these anonymous complaints to detect these types of events that contravene the regulations in this pandemic time.
“We will continue to carry out these types of actions or surprise operations to detect all kinds of events that do not respect health standards,” said the official.
He added that it is practically impossible to avoid these parties in inaccessible areas because there are unconscious people who still do not respect the preventive measures of Covid-19, but they do everything possible to locate and stop them.
