One dead during confrontation in Tangamandapio, Michoacan

MORELIA, Mich., July 14, 2021.- The Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) launched an investigation in relation to the events recorded this Wednesday morning in a town in the municipality of Tangamandapio, where a confrontation was recorded between the police and armed civilians that resulted in a death and severe property damage.

According to a press release, the first investigations show that, at around 7:22 a.m., the multidisciplinary team received the report that, on Juárez Avenue in the República de Arriba neighborhood, belonging to the aforementioned municipality, a person was killed during the confrontation, so the corresponding authorities went to the site to carry out the corresponding investigations.

Once in the place, personnel of the institution saw a coffee shop that showed damage on the façade, caused by fire and impacts from firearms, a site where they entered to carry out the lifting and transfer of a male person between 30 and 35 years old -so far unidentified-, who showed burns all over his body.

Two Nissan trucks and a garbage collection truck were also damaged.

The body was transferred to the local Forensic Medical Service, while the vehicles were seized to process the crime scene and continue with the investigations that allow the clarification of these facts.
