Luxury vacation rental rentals increased over the course of the pandemic year, leading to a transformation.
The rental of luxury properties has a growth after the Covid-19 pandemic due to the new needs of travelers such as open spaces, secluded places, and greater privacy than before.
Some experts in tailor-made travel, such as Alfonso Sumano, a former member of the defunct Tourist Promotion Council (CPTM), and Ophelia Ramírez-Rojas, director of Krystal de Luz Voyage, calculate an increase of between 30 and 40 percent in reservations for accommodation in luxury after the relaxation of measures due to coronavirus.
“We noticed that not only reservations in luxury accommodation increased, but also other services such as transportation and tours. While, in the case of property rentals, they now prefer something smaller like boutique hotels, something secluded and private like castles, cabins, and mansions with chefs, ”Ramírez-Rojas said in an interview.
He assured that they already have reservations for the summer, late 2021, and early 2022 in new destinations such as Costa Rica, Maldives, or Africa for their attractions in open spaces and exclusivity.
In the case of Mexico, the destinations where more luxury properties are rented after the Covid-19 are San Miguel de Allende, Los Cabos, Rivera Nayarit, Puerto Escondido, and Riviera Maya, whether in villas, private rooms, complete houses, or apartments.
Also, Sumano Lazcano pointed out that the luxury segment will be one of the platforms to promote the recovery of tourism; offers greater confidence to tourists and the expense they generate is up to four times higher than the average traveler.
