Authorities urge tourism service providers to take preventive measures.
Tonalá, Chiapas (May 21, 2021).- The marine phenomena known as “Mar de Fondo” (Groundswell), arrives on the Pacific coast of the state of Chiapas.
Warning of the sea in the background (movement of large waves due to storms in the sea) is already making its effects in the Pacific Ocean not only off the coast of Chiapas but also on the shores of Oaxaca and Guerrero.
The Municipal Civil Protection authorities, led by José Rivera Martínez in the town of Tonalá, urge service providers to take preventive measures for their palapas and work tools.
Since Thursday, May 20th, this natural phenomenon was announced, and the local population was ordered to be alert at all times, and do not leave children unattended during the “Mar de Fondo”.
