LeBaron denounced the governor of Chihuahua Javier Corral before the FGR

The LeBaron family also made accusations and filed a complaint in the Human Rights Commission against the governor of Sonora and the officials in charge of State Security.

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (May 8, 20219.— Three members of the LeBaron family reported to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) the governors of Chihuahua and Sonora, Javier Corral Jurado and Claudia Artemiza Pavlovich Arellano, as well as those in charge of federal, state, and local security of both states, for abuse of authority, concealment and forced displacement.

The complaint was filed on Monday, May 3, by Julián LeBaron, as well as by Adrián LeBaron and his wife Bathsheba Shalom, both parents and grandparents of five of the nine victims of the massacre that occurred on November 4, 2019, in Bavispe, Sonora. They also went to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) to file a complaint against the officials.

“We had months saying how dangerous those roads were… and that day, I received a call to tell me someone killed my daughter, that they burned her, at eleven in the morning and then later we began to talk to Aparicio, the prosecutor, and the governor, that we had children wounded; eight, ten hours passed and no one ever came to the crime scene. I don’t know why Corral claims that he provided support when he never did, that’s what causes our outrage” said Rhonita Miller’s father.

He said the seven-month-old baby Faith, who managed to survive the attack in which she lost her mother, was rescued hours later, alone and dehydrated.

According to Adrián LeBaron, the complaint filed with the FGR was also against the former secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Alonso Durazo Montaño, who is a native of Bavispe, a current candidate for governor in Sonora and one of AMLO’s closest political collaborators. Durazo was denounced as likely responsible for the crimes of abuse of authority, concealment, and forced displacement.

“In our own right, on behalf of our daughter Rhonita María Miller and my minor grandchildren, Howard Jacobo Miller (12 years old); Krystal Bellaine Miller (10 years old); Titus Alvin Miller (8 months old); Tania Gricel Miller (8 months old); as well as on behalf of 200 displaced members of the community to which we belong … I point out and expose the aforementioned officials as likely responsible,” reads the complaint.

“I, Adrián LeBaron challenge the governor of Chihuahua to a public debate, he is not going to use the massacre of my family and my complaint against his bad government to revile me, that is not right. Let him show the accusations against me, I want to see who denounced me. I want to tell the world that I do denounce the omissions and complicities of his government,” said Adrian LeBaron, who is a resident of the municipality of Galeana.

LeBaron Family

The LeBaron family has claimed that although the massacre occurred in Sonora, very close to the border with Chihuahua, the more than 20 detained by the federal government belong to the criminal group that operates in the northwest of Chihuahua, including the former director of Public Security of the Janos municipality, Fidel Alejandro Villegas Villegas, who was arrested in December 2019 and who was denounced for abuse of authority and terrorism.
