Did you know that LP gas in Mexico registered an increase of 44.8%?

Liquefied petroleum gas (LP) registered an annual increase of 44.8 percent, reporting at the end of March a price of 23.48 per kilogram, according to data from the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

In this way, the fuel reached the third month of 2021 with the highest price for consumers registered in the last five years.

According to the reports that distributors present to the regulatory body, the kilogram of this energy is 7.27 pesos more expensive in relation to the same month of 2020, when it was quoted at 16.21 pesos.

With the price as of March, a 20-kilogram tank, the most widely used in Puebla households as it is a source of energy for cooking food, reached an average price of 469.6 pesos , when last year it cost 324 pesos.

In turn, stationary gas registered a price of 12.69 pesos, an increase of 36.5 percent compared to what it cost a year ago of 9.30 pesos per liter.

According to Anselmo Chávez Capó, a researcher in Financial and Stock Market Administration at the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (Upaep), energy sources are the ones that mainly influence the consumer price index, which impacts the quality of life of families with lower incomes.
