Monterrey Metro Line 3 opened

MONTERREY, NUEVO LEON (April 2, 2021).- The 7.5 km light metro Line 3 in Monterrey, Nuevo Léon has opened, connecting the end of Line 2 at General I Zaragoza with Hospital Metropolitano.

The line has an 800 m underground section between General I Zaragoza and Santa Lucía, with the rest being elevated.

Constuction cost 9·44bn pesos, with the national infrastructure fund contributing 2·7bn pesos and the Secretariat of Communications & Transportation 4·2bn pesos.

In December 2019 CRRC Zhuzhou was awarded a contract to supply a total of 26 articulated trainsets for lines 1, 2 and 3.

The new line was inaugurated by the Governor of the Nuevo León state Jaime Rodríguez Calderón.
