One thousand 155 vials of dubious origin, identified as a reagent for the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against Sars-Cov-2, were seized this Wednesday at the Campeche airport; The product was transported inside coolers on an aircraft that was destined for the San Pedro Sula air terminal, in Honduras, according to the flight log.
As explained by the General Administration of Customs in a statement, there are 5,775 doses of the vaccine that were hidden between soft drinks and sweets.
The operation took place around noon, when elements of the Mexican Army, attached to the Tenth Infantry Battalion, went to the Ing. Alberto Acuña Ongay International Airport after the call of agents of the General Administration of Customs due to the presence of a private plane , whose crew did not present cargo documentation
The authority indicated that it has initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the reagent, so it will be kept under the protection of the Mexican Army. The aircraft remained in guarantee of the fiscal interest and the crew and passengers of Honduran nationality were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office.
