The arrival of Sergio Pérez to Formula 1 would not have been possible without the support of Carlos Slim Domit and his Escudería Telmex project, but it is precisely this society by which the European media initially described him as a paid driver.

Slim’s companies have accompanied each of the teams that Pérez has passed in F1 and, upon his arrival at Red Bull Racing, this was no exception, even in the face of the doubts that existed due to the agreement that the team had. with the American AT&T, a company that not only contributed money, but also offered the necessary communication services on the track and at the factory in Milton Keynes.

Red Bull Racing reported that companies from América Móvil, Slim’s telecommunications division, will be present in the RB16B car with its brands Telcel, Infinitum and Claro, which are on the front wing, nose of the car and rear wing according to the photographs displayed by the team.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said in a press release: “América Móvil has been a great supporter of Formula 1 and we are very pleased to be able to continue that relationship here at Red Bull Racing. The passion and commitment that the company brings to racing reflects ours and we look forward to joining the long list of successes they have had on the world stage with all their brands ”.

For now, the amount of financial contribution from Mexican sponsors is unknown, but this was an important issue at Red Bull given that they need a larger budget now that they will take control of Honda’s engines division from 2022 to 2025.
