Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Faced with the accelerated outbreak of contagions by Covid-19, the municipal president of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, said that he will personally lead the operations to monitor compliance with prevention measures.

Benítez Torres commented that yesterday he held a meeting with those in charge of the Nueva Normalidad operation and if necessary they will begin to restrict recreation areas.

“In fact, we are working very hard, and people no longer take the necessary care, they no longer use the mask and after these parties, it is normal for that to happen,” he said.

The mayor of Buenos Aires said that infections in Mazatlán are not at all similar to other cities such as Culiacán, which already reaches almost 500 current cases.

Three municipalities of Sinaloa find a red light due to Covid-19

Ahome, Guasave, and Culiacán, are the municipalities with the highest number of active cases due to Covid-19 in Sinaloa.

This Wednesday, January 20, the Sinaloa Health Secretariat registered 104 new cases of coronavirus patients.

Half are from Culiacán, as it has 52 new cases while the port of Mazatlán reported 17.

Guasave 12, Ahome 6, Salvador Alvarado 5, Sinaloa 5, Elota 4, Badiraguato 2 and San Ignacio 1.

Today there are 906 active patients and there are suspects in all municipalities. Of the active cases in Sinaloa, 31.8 percent are hospitalized, so there are 69 percent of Covid beds available.

On the other hand, 36 new patients were recovered. From Culiacán 22, Guasave 8, Navolato 4 and Choix 2.

Regarding deaths from the virus, 13 new deaths were reported in the entity in the last 24 hours; de Ahome 4, Guasave 3, Sinaloa 2, San Ignacio 1, Escuinapa 1, El Fuerte 1 and Salvador Alvarado 1.
