Those fines, rights, use, and other charges based on UMAS will also increase.

With the upward adjustment of the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), which this year went from 86.88 to 89.62 pesos, the collection of the Environmental Sanitation Law (DSA) that applies in nine municipalities of the state and is priced in UMAS also rose.

The DSA is not the only thing that will increase, but this will apply to all those fines, rights, utilities, and other charges based on UMAS, including the new Utilization of 2.5 UMAS that foreign tourists must pay to enter Quintana Roo, which with the adjustment will be 224 pesos and will take effect in April 2021.

In Benito Juárez, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Lázaro Cardenas, Puerto Morelos, Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Solidaridad, the DSA payment is equivalent to 30 percent of the value of the UMA, which will now be 27 pesos. Until last year the charge was 26 pesos. In the case of Othón P. Blanco, the DSA payment is 15 percent of the value of the UMA, which is equivalent to 13.50 pesos

The DSA payment also applies per night of occupation

The charge is directed to users of rooms and/or rooms of hotels, inns or guest houses, and motels in those areas.

The DSA payment applies per room, as well as per night of occupation in any of the aforementioned establishments, that is, it is something that tourists have to pay for each night they stay in one of the municipalities that apply it.

Also, in Isla Mujeres and Lázaro Cárdenas, a charge of 20 percent of the value of the UMA is established for those visitors to the insular part of these municipalities and who do not stay in hotels or similar establishments, who will now have to pay 18 pesos to the maritime passenger transport operator, whose route is within the territorial scope of those demarcations.

In Cozumel, a rate equivalent to 15 percent of the UMA was set for those tourists who arrive on the island by air and sea, who now must pay 13.50 pesos by DSA.

In Othón P. Blanco a charge of 30 percent of the value of the UMA (27 pesos) is applied, for those visitors who arrive by sea to the demarcation, both for cruise tourists and those users of the Fiscal Pier sea taxi from Chetumal.
