San Cristóbal de Las Casas.- For December, the city expects an influx of visitors between 20 to 30 percent, due to the pandemic. However, the businesses are taking care of the health protocols, reported the councilor president of the Commission of Tourism of the City Council, Claudia Patricia Sancho Aguilar.
In an interview, she commented that in November they had an influx of 15 percent, but for December they expect it to increase up to 30 percent, “the pandemic and the health recommendations are the causes for this percentage of visitors ”.
“It is clear that as the City Council we must reinforce and increase the verifications this December season by Municipal Health and Civil Protection among other areas related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Sancho Aguilar stressed that health security has to be increased, and not to get comfortable despite being on a green traffic light, a protocol has to be followed, “We are meeting with businessmen to not lower our guard and call on citizens to use a mask and antibacterial gel .”
Finally, she said that San Cristóbal was present at the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos held virtually in San Luis Potosí, where artisans, textiles and amber producers participated, with a total of 50 people, “we are waiting for the tourism influx to get better, but we are working on it as well that is why San Cristóbal couldn’t be absent from the Tianguis Turístico ”.
