Oaxaca Congress demands that the Governor stop the disappearances of women

OAXACA.- The disappearance of 20 women last October set off alarms in the local Congress, which this Friday presented a point of agreement to demand that the government of Alejandro Murat Hinojosa put a stop to this crime.

From 2016 to date, 536 girls and adolescents have disappeared in Oaxaca. The legislators cited the cases of Zayra Leticia Morales Loyola, 29; Frida Pereira Ramos, 14; Paulina Karime Hurtado Echeverría, 16; Jennifer Guadalupe Alonso Gutiérrez, 14; Sweet Virgin Jijada Solano, 24; Blanca Lizeth Mateos Santiago, 15; Valeria Guadalupe Juárez Rodríguez, 12, and Ingrid Patricia Pérez Hernández, 16 years old.

The most recent case is that of Fabiola Guadalupe Reyes, 26, who disappeared last Saturday the 7th in the Microondas neighborhood of the Oaxaca de Juárez municipality, in the company of her nine-year-old Lluvia Kristal Martínez Reyes children; Allan Jacob Pacheco Reyes, four, and Brisa Pacheco Reyes, 11 months old.

In the local Congress, the demand for justice by relatives and groups of disappeared persons was the subject of debate and concern for the deputies, who agreed on the urgency of putting a stop to this crime.

They agreed on the need for the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office to initiate diligently, exhaustively, and with a gender perspective the investigation and search actions of all the disappeared women in the state.

The foregoing, after presenting a point of agreement that exposes the repeated complaints about disappearances.

Based on records and investigations by civil organizations, 57% of the disappearances of women (536 cases) occurred from December 2016 to October of this year. The same statistics specify that 89%, that is, 477 cases, are between 11 and 17 years old.

In the ordinary session, the Oaxacan Legislature urged the competent authorities to prioritize actions and protocols to grant justice to the victims of this crime and their families.
