The Passenger Transport Network of Mexico City (RTP) modified routes starting in three routes that circulated through Eje 3 Oriente, where Line 5 now runs.
“The Metrobús line 5 service began very early this morning. In the following days, we will resolve some operational details to be at 100%”, wrote Mexico City’s mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, on her Twitter account.
This is due to the fact that some stations were not fully operational. For example, Moctezuma, Ermita and Taxqueña, as was reported by users of the system.
The reduction of lanes in areas such as Avenida Francisco del Paso and Troncoso could generate road chaos.
The third and final stretch of expansion will reach Preparatoria 1, in Xochimilco, a work that will be completed by the end of the year.
The Claudia Sheinbaum administration changed the entire expansion project, which started three years ago.
To begin with, there are no longer any debt bonds for the work, but it is built with fiscal resources and the route was further extended than initially planned.
