Accompanied by Karen León Grossmann and Eduardo León Camargo, general director and honorary president of the competition, respectively, Torruco Marqués recalled that last year a strategic tourism promotion alliance was formalized with La Carrera Panamericana, for a period of six years, with the objective of establishing a new scheme that allows to promote sports tourism and promote Mexico internationally.
Based on this agreement, in 2019 the 32nd edition was held, with the participation of pilots from various countries, which led to an influx of more than one and a half million visitors and spectators, both in the goals and throughout the route, which generated an economic spill of 54.2 million pesos and an impact of the official hashtag of more than 19.7 million impressions.
This year the event will be broadcast live, via online, to Mexico, Colombia, Canada, the United States, England, Switzerland, Germany, France and Sweden, which will mean an important showcase for the promotion of the country’s tourist destinations and for the repositioning of the “Mexico” brand in the international arena, as an audience of more than two million people is expected.
“With the current situation experienced by the Covid-19 pandemic, an economic spill of 22 million pesos is expected, derived from the assistance of competitors, support teams, and staff of the organizing committee, which will generate an occupation of 1,200 rooms distributed in 40 hotels established along the route. “
“The Carrera Panamericana, he indicated, will be a safe competition, in accordance with the health measures established by federal and state authorities, so that both the starting and finishing arches will remain closed, with access only for the indispensable staff and with strict hygienic-sanitary protocols “.

Eduardo León asserted that in this 33rd edition of its modern era, the competition celebrates the 70th anniversary of the first banner that took place in 1950, for the inauguration of the Pan-American Highway.
“On that occasion, the route traveled from Ciudad Juárez to El Ocotal, on the border with Guatemala. The highway links almost all the countries of the American Continent, except for an area of 130 kilometers in the Darien region between Panama and Colombia ”, he pointed out.
This year the route will begin in Oaxaca to continue through Veracruz, Mexico City, Morelia, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Durango, and this year Coahuila is added.
