The Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat confirmed the festival’s suspension; the State Government is in communication with the Security Cabinet.

The organizing committee of the Mexican Caribbean Gastronomic Festival in Cozumel informed participants of the cancellation of activities due to adjustments in the state’s current security protocols.

Therefore, the activities scheduled for Sunday, February 22, are canceled, a decision communicated directly to the exhibitors and confirmed with the Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat.

The festival had begun on Saturday with the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the mayor, José Luis Chacón Méndez.

The festival opened with more than 25 chefs and cooks, including Michelin-starred chefs, and 50 tasting booths where coconut was the star ingredient.

Institutional Monitoring and Security Meeting
Simultaneously with the event’s suspension, the Governor of the State reported that the security cabinet is in permanent session.

Through a Security Council, state and federal authorities—including the Mexican Navy, the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Guard—are coordinating operations to guarantee order throughout Quintana Roo.

The state administration emphasized that on-the-ground work and institutional presence are being maintained closely among the three levels of government. The primary objective of these meetings is to ensure that peace and well-being continue to prevail in the region for residents and visitors, prioritizing prevention and strategic surveillance in all municipalities.
