To strengthen response capabilities to cases of gender violence, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), in coordination with the Secretariat for Women (SEMUJERES), conducted the training course “9-1-1: Actions Against Gender Violence” on February 18 and 19 in the municipality of Kanasín.

The session on the 18th was held at the Kanasín Multifunctional Center, and the session on the 19th at the COBAY (Yucatán State College of Baccalaureate Studies), with the participation of 174 officers from the municipal police forces of Kanasín, Tecoh, Cuzamá, Tixkokob, Seyé, Acanceh, Timucuy, and Tixpéhual.

During the sessions, SSP and SEMUJERES personnel addressed the proper procedures for responding to reports of gender violence, emphasizing the protection of the victim, timely intervention, environmental preservation, and appropriate referral for comprehensive care. Additionally, gender-sensitive treatment protocols were reinforced to reduce risks and prevent revictimization, along with the importance of using 911 responsibly to activate protocols and facilitate a coordinated response.

The SSP acknowledges the commitment of the participating municipal officers, who strengthened their training to provide more professional, compassionate service in accordance with current guidelines.
