Air Canada Expands Mexico Network for Summer 2026
Air Canada is significantly increasing its presence in Mexico for the summer 2026 season, announcing an 18% year‑on‑year rise in seat capacity as part of its broader strategy to strengthen connections with Latin America. The expansion includes both new routes and frequency boosts across several popular destinations.
Starting June 2, the airline will launch a new year‑round service between Montreal and Guadalajara, operating three times per week. In addition, Air Canada will increase flights on existing routes: Montreal–Cancún will grow from seven to 11 weekly services, Toronto–Monterrey from three to four, Vancouver–Mexico City from seven to 11, and Vancouver–Puerto Vallarta from one to two per week.
With these changes, Air Canada will offer about 1,700 one‑way seats per day during the summer peak, spread across 10 daily flights from its three main hubs — Montreal, Toronto Pearson, and Vancouver — to five Mexican cities.
Industry analysts note that this expansion bucks the trend of other North American carriers, many of which have scaled back capacity to Mexico. Air Canada’s move reflects both strong demand for leisure travel and the airline’s strategy to diversify beyond the U.S. market. The carrier is positioning itself to capture growing traffic flows between Canada, Mexico, and Latin America, reinforcing its role as a key player in the region’s aviation landscape.
