Although the SSC blamed the women for the conflict, the images show the agent with an arrogant attitude, which sparked criticism and outrage on social networks.
At the beginning of February, an altercation that occurred at the Observatorio station on Line 1 of the Metro went viral: According to the complaint on networks, a user who was traveling with a wheelchair requested support from an officer of the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) to enter the turnstile area.
According to the testimony of the affected woman, far from receiving help, she was subjected to insults and hostile treatment by the uniformed woman identified as A. K. Padilla Ch.
In a video broadcast on social networks, the agent is seen with an arrogant attitude and expressions such as: “Upload your video so they see that you are a moron” and “No, asshole, to pass your wheelchair is something else”.
The user responded that she was broadcasting live to protect her safety, while the officer continued with a defiant tone.
The affected woman said that her intention was only to enter the Metro after having paid her fare, but when she asked for support to pass the wheelchair, the officer reacted with verbal aggression:
“We asked for support to pass the chair, and he told us that we are assholes for not being able to pass it. So, that’s why I started recording, for my safety. We just wanted to pass the chair, we paid our ticket, and that’s it.”

The video did not tell the whole truth
The dissemination of the video sparked a debate about the daily treatment of public transport users, especially those who require assistance for their mobility.
In contrast, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) issued an official statement in which it blamed the women involved, assuring that they did not respect the access line and that they even physically assaulted the officer.
According to the institutional version, one of the users would have kicked the police, and another hit her from behind, which led to a struggle.

The SSC added that the General Directorate of Internal Affairs opened an administrative folder to evaluate the agent’s performance and determine responsibilities.
The agency also stressed that it condemns any act that violates the dignity of people and that it will not tolerate conduct contrary to the principles that govern the corporation.
However, the images spread on social networks show behavior that has been described by Internet users as rude and disproportionate.
