The route will operate from November 2025 to January 2026 and is part of the strategy to strengthen Torreón’s international connectivity.

Viva Aerobus launched the seasonal Torreón–San Antonio route, a connection that will operate during the holiday season and aims to strengthen tourism, commerce, and the city’s international competitiveness.

The inaugural flight took off on November 22 and will continue until January 10, 2026, with two weekly flights, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

During the launch, Mayor Román Cepeda emphasized that this new route boosts Torreón’s air connectivity: “It not only provides us with a vacation option this holiday season, but also consolidates our position as a city with great international competitiveness and as an attractive destination for new investments.”

The Director of Economic Development, Marcelo Valdés, emphasized the logistical importance of the flight, noting that it lasts just over an hour and caters to different types of tourism: family, business, medical, and educational.

“Torreón is the municipality with the most universities per capita in Mexico, and this route strengthens that exchange,” he pointed out.

For his part, Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Grupo OMA, stated that the goal is to continue developing regional airports to boost economic development in northern Mexico.

The airline also noted that this temporary connection brings residents of the Laguna region closer to world-class attractions such as the Alamo, the Riverwalk, the San Antonio Missions, as well as theme parks, museums, and shopping areas.

Currently, Viva Aerobus operates direct flights from Torreón to Cancún, Mexico City, Los Cabos, and Tijuana, and announced that a connection to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) will be added in March 2026.

The airline’s Executive Vice President of Strategy, Javier Suárez, stated that the company will continue to focus on expanding its routes and offering greater flexibility.

“For this peak season, we’re connecting Torreón residents with a destination full of unique experiences that are now more accessible than ever,” he noted.

The Torreón–San Antonio route thus aligns with the municipal administration’s efforts to strengthen air connectivity and maintain the city as a hub for economic development, leveraging a climate of security and coordination with the State Government.
