“Pillica,” 65, was a well-known public figure, a former municipal agent of Villa Comoapan, and a former candidate for mayor of San Andrés for the now-defunct Encuentro Solidario party. He had also previously served in the municipal police force.
The murder occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 18, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Armed men entered the house, and González Rodríguez attempted to escape but was caught and shot to death on the roof.
It was reported that Pillica had mentioned receiving death threats since his candidacy in 2021; however, nothing is known about the attackers or the exact motive for the attack, and authorities have not yet commented.
It was learned that the attackers were carrying handguns and rifles, and the body was left on the rooftop as the attackers fled the scene.
