The first international flight in decades will fly out of OKC Will Rogers World Airport this Saturday as American Airlines starts regular flights from OKC to Cancun, Mexico. The city hasn’t had an international direct flight since the early 90s.
Nearly 45,000 people fly from Oklahoma City to Mexico yearly, but before now, travelers had to stop in major airports like Houston or Dallas for a connecting flight. The weekly flight will take off every Saturday from Nov. 8 until April 4, 2026. The airport has planned for these flights since 2021, when it introduced a gate and boarding bridge to accommodate international travel.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will staff the airport’s Federal Inspection Center.
Tulsa International Airport also announced a direct flight to Cancun, the first-ever international commercial flight out of the city. Tulsa to Cancun flights won’t open until May, when the new International Customs Facility opens.
