The communications team assisting Yucatan Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena during his Monday live broadcasts was exposed on October 20 when they made a mistake that drew ridicule on social media.
While the governor was reading messages and greetings from viewers, he was handed a card containing a viral “Mexican joke,” similar to those often circulated on platforms like TikTok or X (formerly Twitter).
The governor, unaware of the content, proceeded to read it aloud to hundreds of people watching the broadcast.
The incident was quickly detected by users, who shared the video fragment on social media, generating critical comments about the production team and advisors in charge of managing the digital space.
The error has been interpreted as a sign of disorganization and incompetence by the staff responsible for assisting the governor during his weekly broadcasts, which typically address government management issues and answer citizen questions.
